YVES NETZHAMMER
Yves Netzhammer is a Swiss multimedia artist whose distinctive visual language spans animation, drawing, installation, sculpture, and video. His latest work, Bodyparts, 2025, marks his first engagement with marble — a physical realization of the dreamlike, metamorphic figures that have defined his practice for over two decades, now rendered in stone.
The work distills the human form to its most elemental geometry; fourteen life-sized components in white marble, each reduced to an essential shape and designed to be arranged in shifting configurations. These faceless, featureless humanoid forms, recurrent presences across Netzhammer’s digital works and kinetic sculptures, give tangible expression to the fragility, vulnerability, and existential weight of the body.
Netzhammer premiered the work at the Kunsthaus Zürich as part of O Mensch! Wilhelm Lehmbruck – Die letzten Jahre. Dialog mit Yves Netzhammer, an exhibition placing his practice in direct conversation with the legacy of the great early twentieth-century sculptor. Assembled on the gallery floor of the museum in a single, massed arrangement, the fourteen components formed a sculptural presence inseparable from the architecture they inhabited, drawing visitors into a sustained encounter with the human condition.
