FENG MENGBO
冯梦波
Feng Mengbo is a pioneer of new media art whose practice has helped define the field since the early 1990s. He rose to international acclaim through interactive works rooted in the visual culture of electronic gaming. His seminal installation Long March: Restart (2008) — in which players guide a Red Army soldier through a landscape of historical narrative and digital play — stands as a landmark of interactive art. The work is held in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), LACMA, M+, and the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi.
Over the past decade, Feng Mengbo’s creative inquiry has expanded across experimental electronic music, digital media, traditional painting, and photography. Most recently, he has engaged directly with natural stone, transforming the iconic forms of Long March: Restart into a new series of sculptures realized at Ten X.
Carved in white Carrara marble, black Belgian marble, blue sodalite, and onyx, these sculptures bridge the digital and the physical dimensions. By extending his artistic language into one of the oldest sculptural mediums, Feng Mengbo grants profound physical permanence to figures born in the digital realm.
